History of Wooden Train Sets
Wooden rail sets have been available for many year with
miniature wooden train and track sets beginning in the 1940's. Many
companies have developed wooden train sets including BRIO, T. C. Timber
Company and the Learning Curve to mention a few. The train and track
quality has developed with throughout the year with better machinery and
technology but wooden railways are unique because you can expand the track
and the interlocking section allows the track to be more flexible. Another
unique feature of the wooden railroad track is the compatibility although
there maybe different lengths of "straight" pieces the curved sections has
almost the same arc. Train connectors vary from hooks to magnets.
The magnet connection began in the 1970's which allowed more train cars to
be more compatible. Recently magnetic have been developed to be stronger
which allow more train cars to be attached. Wooden train sets and railroad
tracks are a classic and creative toy for children, that is simple in
design and easy to use.
